Inter have a good recent record against Genoa and have won 23 out of the last 36 matches played between the two teams

The Nerazzurri will be desperate to bounce back from their Derby d’Italia defeat to Juventus on Sunday.

They are feeling the pressure to get back to winning ways ahead of their top-of-the-table clash with Napoli.

Inter Milan are still playing catchup in their title defence and will be eyeing three points when they host Genoa. The two sides clash on Saturday night with Inter starting the weekend in second spot, nine places ahead of Genoa. Below we have a preview and prediction for this match.

Inter Milan haven’t lost to Genoa in the last 11 meetings between the two sides. They were, however, frustrated to a 2-2 draw in the last meeting back in August. As Inter aren’t at their best, they will hope to avoid a repeat of such.

They are coming from a 1-0 loss at Juventus, their second defeat in the last three matches. From a possible 12 points, Inter Milan managed just four in the last four matches.

Genoa have won three more points than Inter in their last four matches. They will be looking at this as a motivation to go for a win at San Siro.

The visitors have posted two wins and a draw in the last four matches. Their wins came against struggling sides, Monza and Venezia, thus they may want to stay grounded, as Inter will offer a stiffer challenge.

Genoa’s best quality coming into this game will have to be their attack. They have only failed to score twice in the last 10 matches and this will trouble Inter.

There’s need for improvement on the road though, as they are winless in the last four away matches.

However, Genoa will not make it easy for Inter. They are a formidable team, having managed a 2-2 draw with the Nerazzurri in the first meeting of the season.

Joaquin Correa is expected to replace Marcus Thuram in the Inter attack against Genoa at San Siro tonight.

The Nerazzurri must cope without Yann Sommer, Raffaele Di Gennaro and Carlos Augusto. Thuram is still recovering from an ankle injury and is not expected to be available.

Second-choice keeper Josep Martinez will make his second appearance with the Nerazzurri, starting against his former club.

Several sources, including Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, report Simone Inzaghi will pick an all-Argentinean attack tonight with Correa partnering Lautaro Martinez up front.

Hakan Calhanoglu is not in shape, so he’s expected to be replaced by Kristjan Asllani in the middle of the park.

Genoa travelled to Milan without Vitinha, Honest Ahanor, Mario Balotelli, Milan Badelj, and Morten Thorsby. In the right winger position, Alessandro Zanoli is favourite over Maxwel Cornet.

Inter (3-5-2): Josep Martinez; Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Lautaro Martinez, Correa.

Genoa (4-3-3): Leali; De Winter, Bani, Vasquez, Martin; Masini, Frendrup, Onana; Cornet, Pinamonti, Miretti.
