Bayern Munich are ready to kick off their DFB-Pokal campaign

Bayern Munich are ready to kick off their DFB-Pokal campaign with a midweek clash against VfL Osnabrück on Wednesday.

FC Bayern Munich go into this fixture in sharp, confident shape as the current holders of the DFB-Pokal title. Led by head coach Vincent Kompany, the side have suffered only one defeat in their previous eight games in all tournaments.

They opened their competitive calendar by winning the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, beating Borussia Dortmund 2–1. That positive run continued straight into their first Bundesliga match, where they crushed VfB Stuttgart with an impressive 5–1 triumph at the Allianz Arena.

Jonas Urbig is set to take his place between the posts for FC Bayern Munich as they begin their DFB-Pokal run with an away trip to VfL Osnabrück.

Head coach Vincent Kompany has stated that experienced captain Manuel Neuer will be held back to control his minutes, handing the 23-year-old German goalkeeper a key chance to impress.

On a positive note, creative midfielder Jamal Musiala is back in full training after missing time in pre-season due to absence seizures.

Even so, Kompany will wait until the last moment before deciding on his availability, and it is very doubtful he will be selected in the starting line-up
