FC Heidenheim won 1 direct matches, Bayern Munich won 3 matches

Heidenheim’s quest for survival continues with a tough contest against Bayern Munich, who will be furious after their elimination from the Champions League earlier this week.
Heidenheim might just be the unluckiest team in the Bundesliga. They finally found their form in March and then had to face the Holy Trinity of this campaign, one after another. Two weeks ago, they met Bayer Leverkusen and lost because of a goal in added time. Then, they faced Eintracht Frankfurt last week, and now have to deal with Bayern Munich too. Losing on Saturday will probably lead to relegation, as there will only be four rounds to make up 7 points (or more).
Bayern Munich got eliminated from the Champions League after failing to beat Inter Milan in both legs and the Bundesliga is now their only option for silverware this season. Last week’s draw against Dortmund didn’t change much in the title race, as Bayer Leverkusen also failed to win their fixture. The Bavarians remain six points ahead with five rounds remaining and will probably take out all their anger on Heidenheim on Saturday.
Heidenheim have spent less than two seasons in the Bundesliga but all of their clashes with Bayern Munich were extreme. The teams have met a total of four times since 2019 and each match featured a minimum of five goals. The first one was a quarter-final clash in the DFB Pokal in 2019, which Bayern won 5-4. And then, the teams met three times in the elite, with the Bavarians winning 4-2 twice, while Heidenheim won their only home match 3-2 last season.
