Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet for the third time this season in the Copa del Rey final in Seville

26 April 2025 - 8:57 pm

Barcelona won both previous contests, routing their rivals 4-0 in Madrid back in October, then winning 5-2 in the Spanish Supercup final in Saudi Arabia in January.

Barca are fresh off a 1-0 win over Mallorca at home on Tuesday, thanks to a second-half goal by Dani Olmo. Hansi Flick’s side had 78 percent possession on the night, and registered 14 shots on target, forcing Mallorca keeper Leo Roman into making 12 saves.

The Blaugrana sit at the top of the La Liga standings on 76 points, four ahead of Real with five games remaining in the season.

Barcelona advanced past Atlético Madrid by an aggregate score of 5-4 in a thrilling semifinal draw to book their ticket to the final.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, defeated suburban rivals Getafe 1-0 on Sunday despite missing Kylian Mbappé, who sat out with an ankle injury.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side also prevailed by a 5-4 aggregate score in the Copa del Rey semifinal against Real Sociedad, winning the first leg 1-0 before settling for a 4-4 draw in the return fixture.

Fans tuning into the FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid Copa del Rey final from the United States can catch the action on ESPN+, FuboTV and ESPN Deportes (Spanish broadcast).

The game will be played at Estadio de La Cartuja in Seville, Spain. La Cartuja has a capacity of 70,000 spectators, and has hosted a number of Spanish national team games in recent years.

Mbappé should be back for Real Madrid this weekend after missing the last two contests by way of a one-game ban and an ankle injury.

The French superstar is the only Galactico to score against Barca this season, along with Rodrygo. The two will start alongside Vinicius Jr to form the revered front-three.

Eduardo Camavinga will also be unavailable through injury, meaning Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni are expected to make up the midfield pivot, with Jude Bellingham playing just ahead.

Fran Garcia should also draw in for Ferland Mendy, who has been on the mend for most of 2025.

Real Madrid predicted lineup (4-2-3-1): Thibaut Courtois (GK) – Lucas Vázquez, Raul Asencio, Antonio Rüdiger, Fran Garcia – Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni – Rodrygo, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr – Kylian Mbappé.

Flick has several injuries to contend with heading into Saturday, most notably affecting the participation of top scorer Robert Lewandowski.

Ferran Torres is expected to be drawn into the lineup, looking to extend his strong form this season, with 17 goals and four assists in 41 appearances.

Dani Olmo will pull the strings behind the striker, flanked by Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

Iñigo Martinez and Pau Cubarsi will form the tried-and-trusted pairing they’ve proven to be all year, while Gerard Martin is expected to get another start at left-back, despite Hector Fort impressing in a rare start on Saturday.

Ballon d’Or favorite Pedri will patrol the midfield with Frenkie De Jong.
