The first Derby della Madonnina of the season will take place on Saturday, 31 October, as AC Milan and Inter Milan go head-to-head at San Siro.
The match marks Ruben Amorim’s first taste of the Milan derby since becoming the AC Milan boss in the summer.
Inter Milan have failed to win each of the last seven Derbies della Madonnina.
AC Milan have lost just one of their nine Serie A matches this season.
Both teams have scored in three of Inter Milan’s last five matches.
AC Milan have had a steady start to the season under Amorim, but their position would look a lot rosier had they not lost to Bologna at home on Wednesday night.
That result means they come into this match seven points behind Inter Milan at the top of the Serie A table, rather than four, which would make this match feel less like a must-win tie for I Rossoneri.
Despite that defeat, the noise out of the Milan camp is largely positive, with Luka Modric saying earlier in the week that the club are heading in the ‘right direction’ under Amorim.
For his first derby, Amorim has mixed news on the injury front. Samuel Chukwueze, Mattia Gabbia, Alexis Saelemaekers and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are all unavailable, but Adrien Rabiot, Diego Moreira and Mario Gila are all back in training.
As for Inter Milan, their league position means they can take a more relaxed approach to this fixture, which will allow them to play the game that manager Cristian Chivu wants.
After winning the Scudetto in his debut season in Milan, Chivu will be desperate to go back-to-back this season, while also being more competitive in Europe.
So far, so good domestically, as Inter are currently top of Serie A, but more work is needed in Europe, with I Nerazzurri picking up just three points from their first three Champions League matches.
Coming into this one, they recorded an impressive 2-0 win away against Venezia on the same night Bologna took all three points against AC Milan.
Chivu is missing several important players this weekend, with Lautaro Martinez, Luis Henrique, Benjamin Pavard, John Stones and Curtis Jones all in the treatment room.
