AS Roma have won only one out of the last three matches played between the two teams

Roma travel to Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their Europa League (UEL) last-16 tie with a one-goal advantage after beating them 2-1 in Rome in the first leg.

That was the fifth of a six-game winning streak in all competitions for the Italians, as they aim to cement their place in the quarter-finals of the UEL.

Bilbao’s form heading into this one is a lot patchier, as they are now winless in three matches over all competitions, and have only won once in five games overall, albeit which was an impressive 7-1 thrashing of Real Valladolid at home in La Liga.

The Spaniards are a much more formidable force at San Mames, where they are currently unbeaten in five matches across all competitions.

Roma are decent travellers though, and are unbeaten themselves in four games in all competitions, which has seen them win three of those to-nil.

Nonetheless, given Bilbao’s home advantage and Roma’s narrow lead, this is a difficult one to call in terms of who will go through to the quarters.

As mentioned, Roma won the first leg 2-1 at home to give them the advantage heading to Bilbao. Inaki Williams actually gave the visitors the lead early in the second half, but Angelino equalised just a few minutes later before Eidor Shomurodov scored the winner in stoppage time.

Bilbao boast no fresh injury concerns ahead of the clash, although Yeray Alvarez is suspended having been sent off in the first leg.

Likewise, Roma have almost a fully-fit squad to choose from, with just Mehmet Zeki Celik out with injury.

Athletic Bilbao: Simon, Gorosabel, Vivian, Paredes, Boiro, Jaureguizar, Prados, Berenguer, Canales, N Williams, Guruzeta.

Roma: Svilar, Ndicka, Hummels, Nelsson, Salah-Eddine, Kone, Paredes, Abdulhamid, Pellegrini, Soule, Shomurodov.
