The title is going back to Munich but the season is not yet over. Bayern Munich are set to play their final home game against Borussia Monchengladbach, and it will be emotional for more than one reason.

The Bavarians secured their 34th Bundesliga title after Bayer Leverkusen failed at Freiburg last weekend. But the real celebrations will be held at the Allianz Arena this week, as this will be their final home game of the season. It is also going to be Thomas Muller’s final home match for Bayern Munich. While the Bavarians have nothing to play for really, the expectations are set for a strong performance, befitting a champion.

On the other end, Borussia Monchengladbach will be fighting to keep their dream of playing in Europe alive. While Gladbach are five points behind RB in 6th place, winning the last two games could be enough, although highly unlikely. The main issue is that Gladbach have not won since late March, but the one small positive is their overall record against Bayern Munich. No other team has won more times against the champions in the elite.

As already mentioned, Borussia Monchengladbach have always been Bayern’s “bogey team”, costing them more points throughout the years than any other Bundesliga rival. For example, the Bavarians had no wins against them in five consecutive games between 2021 and 2023. But the last few instances were quite the opposite, as Bayern won the last three H2Hs.
