Atletico Madrid are hoping to finish the season strongly as they welcome Real Sociedad to the Estadio Civitas Metropolitano in La Liga on Saturday night.
Indeed, the hosts are comfortably in third place in the league, with very little chance of winning the title or falling out of the Champions League places with just four games left to play. A 0-0 draw at Alaves last time out means Atletico have won just one of their previous three matches, although home form is strong having won their last two and scored seven goals in the process.
Meanwhile, a winless run of four games, which was extended by a 0-0 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao last time out, has seen Sociedad slip out of the top half and into 11th. Furthermore, they have only won one of their previous eight away matches in all competitions, which does not bode well for them ahead of Saturday’s trip.
Atletico are also unbeaten in seven H2Hs, although Sociedad managed a draw in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Nonetheless, the hosts should be favourites to take all three points.
Alvarez is unfortunately suspended for Atletico, while Rodrigo Riquelme remains an injury doubt.
Arsen Zakharyan is definitely out for Sociedad, while Orri Oskarsson, Igor Zubeldia and Alvaro Odriozola are also injury doubts.
