It has been a miserable season for Manchester United

Manchester United have been woeful throughout the campaign and that continued in midweek as they finish off the 2024/25 campaign with the visit of top five chasing Aston Villa.
Man Utd preview: Woeful United
It has been a miserable season for Manchester United and they come into this one on the back of a continuation of that as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the final of the UEFA Europa League at San Mames in Bilbao in the Basque Country the other day.
The Red Devils could finish the season as low as 17th, quite astonishingly, with just two victories inside 90 minutes in their last 13 matches across all competitions – both coming against Athletic Club in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League earlier this month.
Aston Villa preview: Brilliant Villa
Unai Emery has done a sensational job in charge of Aston Villa and the Villains will qualify for the UEFA Champions League if they win at Old Trafford and one of Chelsea or Newcastle United drop points or if Manchester City lose on the final day of the campaign.
They most recently defeated Tottenham Hotspur by two goals to nil at Villa Park on the penultimate match day of the campaign last week thanks to strikes from Ezri Konsa and Boubacar Kamara. They have now won 15 of their last 18 matches across all competitions.
Man Utd team news: Amorim doesn’t know
Ruben Amorim clearly doesn’t know what his best and preferred eleven is so it is anyone’s guess as to how United line-up on the final day. Reports suggest he has told Alejandro Garnacho to find a club so it would be a surprise to see the Argentine attacker feature.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Onana; Mazraoui, Lindelof, Heaven; Diallo, Ugarte, Mainoo, Dorgu; Fernandes, Mount; Zirkzee.
Aston Villa team news: Ramsey returns
Even though he is recovering well from a hamstring injury, Marcus Rashford will miss the final game of the season against his parent club. Jacob Ramsey has returned from suspension, though, whilst Youri Tielemans remains a doubt.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen; Kamara, Onana; Rogers, Asensio, McGinn; Watkins.
