On May 26, 2025, Al Fateh’s home stadium will host the final round clash of the Arabian Pro League between Al-Fateh and Al-Nassr.

This season is undoubtedly shaping up to be Al-Fateh’s most lackluster in the past five years. The team, which used to consistently finish mid-table and never dropped below 8th, is now clearly regressing. Currently, the club sits in 12th place with 36 points. Even a win in the final round won’t lift Al-Fateh higher than 9th.

That said, the team still puts up a fight at home. Over their last four matches in front of their fans, Al-Fateh have claimed three victories and delivered a thrilling encounter against Al-Hilal, narrowly losing 3-4 in stoppage time. This result shows that, despite their struggles in the standings, they remain competitive at least on home turf.

Al-Nassr still face plenty of questions this season, especially given their reputation as one of Saudi football’s flagship clubs. Year after year, the team has failed to secure any silverware—neither domestically nor in the AFC Champions League. Despite boasting Cristiano Ronaldo and other stars, Al-Nassr have fallen short of expectations. In this year’s Champions League, their best run ended in the semi-finals, losing 2-3 at home to Japan’s Kawasaki. The year before, their journey ended even earlier—in the quarter-finals, falling to future champions Al-Ain from the UAE.

The league campaign has also left much to be desired. Al-Nassr couldn’t mount a proper title challenge and have not secured a Champions League berth for next season. Their only remaining goal is to try and finish third. But even a win in the final round won’t be enough—they also need Al-Qadsiah to drop points against Al-Hilal.

Amidst these team setbacks, there’s still intrigue in the race for the Golden Boot. Cristiano Ronaldo is again in the hunt for top scorer of the season, with 24 goals to his name. Hot on his heels is Al-Ahli’s Ivan Toney on 22, while Karim Benzema trails by just one goal. The Frenchman has already claimed the title with Al-Ittihad, but the individual scoring race is still alive and could be the only highlight of the year for the Portuguese star.
