Germany and Nagelsmann are currently contending with a whole host of injuries

UEFA World Cup Qualifying Group A turned out to pull off some surprises in September and the first October clash will see Germany take on Luxembourg on Friday, October 10.

Germany’s World Cup qualifying campaign got off to a shaky start, opening with a 2-0 defeat in Slovakia that exposed clear defensive issues and a lack of cutting edge in attack.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side quickly responded, however, securing a 3-1 win over Northern Ireland to get back on track. Even so, the four-time world champions sit third in the group with three points from two games, trailing leaders Slovakia by three and needing consistency to stay in control of their destiny.

Luxembourg, meanwhile, remain spirited but outgunned at this level. Losses to Northern Ireland (1-3) and Slovakia (0-1) have left them bottom of the standings, with effort and energy failing to yield points.

Germany and Nagelsmann are currently contending with a whole host of injuries, just as they did during the September international break.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen remains out for at least another couple of months, hence Oliver Baumann was expected to start in goal for Die Maschaftt, however, the keeper has withdrawn from the squad due to illness.

In defence, Antonio Rudiger will also miss the clash after picking up a knock with . Nick Woltemade also remains a doubt for the clash as he continues to recover from a bout of flu.

Jamie Lewling could return in time for the clash but remains doubtful. Jamal Musiala also remains absent as he continues to recover from his long-term injury.

Germany predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Nubel (GK) — Anton, Koch, Tah, Raum — Kimmich, Goretzka — Gnabry, Wirtz, Adeyemi — Woltemade.
