United have finally found some consistency, winning back-to-back league games for the first time under Amorim

Manchester United have been handed a boost ahead of their Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Red Devils are looking to secure three consecutive league victories when they host the Seagulls following back-to-back wins over Sunderland and Liverpool.

Brighton have won all their last three games at Old Trafford but could be without creator-in-chief Kaoru Mitoma for the trip to face Man United.

The Japanese is a doubt for Saturday’s game due to an ankle issue, which could be good news for head coach Ruben Amorim and his men. Mitoma scored and assisted to help Brighton to a 3-1 victory over Man United at Old Trafford the last time both clubs met in January.

The Japanese attacker has been a constant thorn in the flesh for the Red Devils defence anytime they meet, and not having to face him tomorrow could be relieving for the hosts.

Nothing is decided yet as the Seagulls still have to make a late decision on his availability, but things are not currently looking good as far as his fitness is concerned.

Manchester United

Ruben Amorim faces late fitness checks on match-winner Harry Maguire and midfielder Mason Mount, though both are expected to be available despite minor knocks. Noussair Mazraoui is also back in contention. Nevertheless, Lisandro Martínez remains sidelined with a long-term knee injury.

Brighton

Fabian Hürzeler has received a boost with midfielder Diego Gomez declared fit to start. Furthermore, Brajan Gruda, Kaoru Mitoma, and Joël Veltman are all close to returning and could feature. The Seagulls will, however, definitely be without Jack Hinshelwood, Solly March, and Adam Webster.

Form

Manchester United

United have finally found some consistency, winning back-to-back league games for the first time under Amorim. Their victory at Anfield last time out was particularly impressive. Consequently, they are now aiming for a fourth consecutive home league win, a feat they last achieved in August 2023 – a run which was ended by Brighton.

Brighton

The Seagulls are in solid form, having lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions. Their 2-1 win over Newcastle last weekend lifted them to 10th. Moreover, their recent record against United is exceptional, winning six of the last seven league meetings, including the last three at Old Trafford.

Predicted Lineups

Man Utd predicted XI: Lammens; De Ligt, Maguire, Shaw; Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Šeško.

Brighton predicted XI: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, De Cuyper; Baleba, Ayari; Minteh, Rutter, Gómez; Welbeck.
