The winners of the 2017-18 edition, Eintracht Frankfurt, are set to host the 2021 champions, Borussia Dortmund, at the Deutsche Bank Park in the second round of the DFB Pokal. This is a rematch of the 2016-17 final, which saw Dortmund come out on top in a 2-1 victory at the Olympic Stadium to win their fourth title after a five-year drought. Here’s our match prediction.

That victory came against St. Pauli in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with the team recording a 2-0 home victory to end a four-match winless run.
The Eagles now shift their attention to the DFB Pokal. Dino Toppmoller’s men secured a commanding 5-0 away win against fifth-tier FV Engers 07 in the first round. In the previous edition, they reached the Round of 16 but were eliminated by RB Leipzig in a 3-0 thrashing.
Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, have performed to the standards required of them. A 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga is the only defeat they’ve suffered in the 2025-26 season (W8, D3).
The Prussians have won two consecutive matches across all competitions, including a 1-0 home league win against Cologne.
