Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn will renew their rivalry tonight as they step back into the ring in front of a packed Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The pair’s dramatic April bout, a continuation of their fathers’ storied rivalry, went the way of Eubank by unanimous decision, but Benn did not come away empty-handed.
On top of a reported £8million payout, he also pocketed £375,000 after Eubank was fined for failing to make weight, missing the 160lbs target by just 0.05lbs.
He spent that money on a Rolls-Royce, and chirped ahead of the rematch that he hoped Eubank would miss weight again: “I’m slightly hoping you miss weight again, just a little bit. Just a pound. Just a little bit. That would be nice. Nice little gift from you last time.”
Eubank hit back, though, insisting lightning would not strike twice: “We can’t give you another Rolls. Only one Rolls-Royce for you. Only once.”
Regardless of whether either fighter faces a fine ahead of the rematch, both stand to secure a considerable payday.
The pair signed a two-fight deal ahead of their first clash, meaning the same terms will apply when they meet again today.
A 60/40 split in the prize pool will reportedly be in place, with Eubank Jr taking the larger cut.
Eubank Jr, then, will pocket around £10m, while Benn will take home the remaining £8m.
