The club from the “Stadium of Light” finally earned promotion from the Championship last season through the playoffs. This success is, of course, thanks to Le Bris, who became manager in the summer of 2024. He is still performing well now, winning almost half of the matches with his squad (although they were immediately knocked out of the League Cup on penalties by modest Huddersfield). Against Liverpool, they managed only a draw. And against Manchester City, they suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat.
Last season, Howe first won the League Cup and then, after a tough battle with Aston Villa, clinched fifth place in the spring. This secured his team a Champions League spot, where the English side is currently performing well. This week, they drew 2-2 away to Bayer. Things are not going as well in the Premier League. They also dropped points against Tottenham. At least they managed to beat Burnley 2-1.
The Premier League newcomer scores an average of 1.20 goals and concedes 1.13. With Woltemade and his new teammates, they average 1.4 goals scored per game and 1.27 conceded.
