Manchester United could have salvaged last season, which only brought a fifteenth place in the Premier League, thanks to the Europa League. But they lost the final to equally struggling countrymen, Tottenham. In the autumn there was a new historic failure, exiting the League Cup at the hands of Grimsby. And there were plenty of setbacks in the league, especially at first. Nevertheless, by winter, they managed to secure a spot in the top third of the current standings. Even after losing to Aston Villa, they beat Newcastle.
The team from “Molineux” collapsed in the first half of last season as well. But the gamble on Vítor Pereira then paid off—he managed to earn 42 points with his players by the end of the campaign, the same as their current opponent. Now, however, whether under the Portuguese coach or without him, they are simply a “lifeless” outsider who have not beaten anyone in the Premier League (although in the League Cup they only lost to their third opponent!), and only managed draws against Tottenham and Brighton. They scored against Liverpool but still lost once again.
Bruno Fernandes and his teammates average 1.78 goals scored per match and 1.56 conceded. The league’s main outsider expects a ratio of: scoring 0.56 per match, conceding 2.17.
