Borussia Dortmund have won three of their last five matches

The Berlin club has, in recent seasons, either qualified for the Champions League or defended their Bundesliga place through playoff wins. Only last season did they finish comfortably, with 40 points and thirteenth position. This time, they’ve managed to improve—by 2025, they had six wins and six losses. After the break, they drew against Mainz, Augsburg, and Stuttgart.

Dortmund made an ill-fated bet on Nuri Şahin in the summer of 2024. However, his replacement Kovac managed to secure fourth place last spring, allowing them to remain in the Champions League, where they performed reasonably well.

Against Tottenham, after going down to ten men in the first half, they lost 0-2. Domestically, they exited the cup competition in 2025, but in the Bundesliga 1, they are striving to reclaim their usual second spot. The competition is fierce, and slip-ups have occurred, but not in 2026—both Werder and St. Pauli were defeated.

Currently in Berlin, the team averages 1.33 goals scored per match, conceding 1.5 in return. Girassi and his teammates score an average of 1.94 goals and concede almost half as much, 0.94 per game.
