Dortmund scores an average of 2.71 goals and concedes 2.14

One of Germany’s leading clubs nearly dropped out of the top four last season due to an unsuccessful bet on Nuri Sahin, but after hiring Kovac, managed to climb to fourth place by the end of the campaign. Now, they are clearly aiming to regain their usual status as runners-up. In Milan, under Simone Inzaghi, they missed out on 4-5 trophies. Under Kivu, they lost the Club World Cup and, more recently, the Italian Super Cup. Still, they have legitimate ambitions to lead Serie A.

In the Champions League, the Germans have played entertaining and fairly successful football—losing only to Manchester City, albeit 1-4. They registered wins against Athletic, Copenhagen, and Villarreal, scoring four goals against each. There were also draws, not just with Juventus but with Bodo/Glimt, and they lost to Tottenham after going down to ten men early in the match.

The Italians started with a string of victories. They beat their first four opponents—though these were relatively easy: a struggling Ajax, Slavia, and debutants Union and Kairat. However, they ended 2025 with defeats to Atletico and Liverpool. Last week, they also lost at home to Arsenal, 1-3.
